What buying groceries taught me about trolls
I got a weird story for you today.
I was out with my wife shopping for groceries and stuff.
It was a narrow street so I had to stop my bike for 3 seconds until my wife got off. And a random stranger in a car kept honking.
He rolled down his window and started hurling abuses. I responded with a smile and requested him to keep moving.
Honestly, I didn’t listen to anything he said.
Until he started hurling abuses at my family.
At that point, I couldn’t care less about it. He was just a random stranger who was having a bad day. I moved on & so did he.
Later while I was chilling with my wife, a random thought popped into my head.
“I should’ve given it back to him. Probably punched or kicked him until he realized his mistake”
Yeah, the stranger was sitting in my head rent-free
Why was I giving so much power to him?
No idea, but it reminded me of the time when one of my threads went viral and had my first dose of trolls taking a dig at me.
“Bloody retard influencer, get a life bro..”
This was a comment I actually got, and later I kept thinking of ways to get back to him. But I didn’t. Do you know why?
Regardless of what you do in life (whether buying groceries with your spouse or writing viral threads), people are going to sh*t on you.
Like this dude right here:
Not because you’ve done something to offend them.
It’s just because they’re having a bad day and they’re venting that out on you.
The best thing you can do is smile, ignore & move on.
There’s no point in thinking about WHAT YOU COULD’VE SAID and damage your mental health doing that.
Consider this the next time you face a hater or a troll.
I’ll see you next time.
Cheers muchachos.
