Ghostwriting for $300/month taught me this..

Story time today.

So it was wayyy back in november/december 2022 when I was neck deep in sending Cold DMs.

About 50 DMs & emails a day for 20 days straight.

I was desperate for anything & everything, just to make some quick $$$

I was a newbie on the ghostwriting corner on Twitter and I didn’t know how things worked there.

After sending at least a 1000 (not exaggerating) cold pitches, an agency owner replied saying he’d like to take a look at my stuff (writing stuff obviously). So, I sent my tweet samples and he said he liked it.

“Finally, $1000 per month starting this month!!”

That’s what my noob brain thought. Unfortunately, my expectations were shattered immediately.

“Sorry man, I can’t offer more than $200/month.”

WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. F*CK.

Like I said earlier, I was desperate. So I bargained a bit, but not much. In the end, we finalized on $300 per month. And I happily agreed to the rates.

I worked my ass off.

For the first few weeks (or months), I was overworked and underpaid. And I realized it 2 months into it. So, I decided to leverage the results for better (& higher paying) clients where I won’t have to trade my days and nights for pennies.

Again, I started sending cold DMs and emails, this time, with the results I got for the agency owner.

And within 3 days, I got a $600/month client (double then when I started out). I repeated the same process I did at the last agency with this one.

Get results - share results - pitch higher prices.

So, what’s my point?

My point is, I see most beginner writers dreaming of making 5-figures per months within the first 3 (or even six) months of starting their journey. Sorry to break your bubble, but that’s not gonna happen.

You need to have a sh*t ton of patience, and the willingness to work your ass off at lower prices. You can’t charge $2k a month if you don’t have any credibility or confidence that you can do it.

People hire you for the results you get.

Whether you’re a ghostwriter or an email marketer.

So, if you want to start getting paid for your work, here’s what I want you to do:

• Make a list of agencies in your niche (ghostwriting or email marketing)

• Start DM’ing them (at least 5-10/day)

• Offer free/low priced work

• Get results

• Leverage results for higher prices

• Repeat for 12 months
  

If you stick to this plan, I guarantee you’ll start making 4-5 figures by the end of the year.
