The mindset shift that transformed my writing for good

I sucked at writing.

Do you know why? Because I was a perfectionist. Because I feared criticism too much. Because I am a people pleaser.

And these traits led to a slow start to my journey in online writing.

I had gained just above 100+ followers in the first 4 months of publishing everyday.

I wanted everything I publish to be perfect.

Which led to less volume of work going out, and more overthinking and overanalysing whatever I wrote.

In July 2022, I published a story thread that went bonkers viral.

It wasn’t perfect by any means. But I was on a spree of writing two threads a week and had no idea what should I be writing about.

I didn’t want to break my habit.

So, I said “FUCK IT!”

And hit the publish button.

And since then, I’ve written over 400 threads.

What I realized was, there’s no such thing as a perfect piece of writing.

When you find yourself overthinking, it’s because you’re scared of rejection. And to eliminate that, you need to write and publish more.

The more sh*t you throw on the wall, the more data you will have.

And the less you will suck.

What’s that ONE piece of content you’re delaying on publishing?

Let it go, and hit publish.

And do it again, every single time you find yourself overthinking about something.

So, that’s about it for this week.

Until next time.

Cheers.

Kush.
